Inspired by the Persian classic, "One Thousand and One Nights," this exotic tale has been adapted for young actors and audiences. The king, convinced that no wife can be trusted, is determined to marry a new woman every morning and then exile her at night. Scheherazade, a clever and talented storyteller, is his current wife, and she weaves a colorful collection of tales that entertain the king so well he can't bear to exile her from their home.
The first day of this production workshop is Saturday, February 27, 2016, and will be strictly for auditions. You will be contacted to schedule an audition time when your registration is confirmed. If your actor cannot attend, please make arrangements in advance for a private audition. We welcome new "techies" also, but available crew positions are few. If you are registering someone who wishes to serve as a technician, please contact us first to be certain space is available.
Rehearsals for production workshops are scheduled with participants' schedules in mind. You will be asked for a list of date and time conflicts after you register, and you can make changes to that list up to February 27th. We ask that, once the schedule is completed, your actor make every attempt to attend rehearsals. Frequent unscheduled absences may mean the loss of a role. The only days which are absolutely mandatory are the rehearsals during Tech Week, (for this show, May 2 through 5), and the performances, May 6 through 22, 2016.
Performances of "Tales" will take place over three weekends at the Black Box Arts Center: May 6 - 22, 2016 (Fridays at 7:00 pm; Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 pm).
To confirm your place, fill out the registration form and pay online or mail us a check. Either way, once payment is received, your child's place in the workshop is confirmed.
