Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that "Anything can happen if you let it."
This workshop, directed by Dori Cutrona, is scheduled to begin Saturday, September 9, 2017, with auditions. All registered youth are guaranteed a place in the cast. You will be contacted to schedule an audition time when your registration is confirmed. If your actor cannot attend on this date, please make arrangements in advance for a private audition. We welcome new "techies" also, but available crew positions are few. If you are registering someone who wishes to serve as a technician, please contact us first to be certain space is available.
Rehearsals for production workshops are scheduled with participants' schedules in mind. You will be asked for a list of date and time conflicts after you register, and you can make changes to that list up to September 9th. We ask that, once the schedule reflecting these blackout dates is completed, you and your actor commit to attendance at all scheduled rehearsals. Unexcused absences may mean the loss of a role. The only days which are absolutely mandatory are the rehearsals during Tech Week, (for this show, November 6 through 9), and the performances.
Six performances of Mary Poppins will take place over two weekends at the Black Box Arts Center: November 10 through 19, 2017. (Fridays at 7:00 pm; Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 pm).
To confirm your place, fill out the registration form and pay online or mail us a check. Either way, once payment is received, your child's place in the workshop is confirmed.
